28 Families Displaced After Three-Alarm Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Westchester

A total of 28 families likely will need to be relocated following a three-alarm fire that broke out late Sunday afternoon at an apartment house in Westchester.

One female resident was rescued by firefighters from a fourth-floor window and pulled to the fire escape at 637 Van Cortlandt Park Ave., said Yonkers Fire Department Deputy Chief of Personnel Daniel P. Flynn.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries. There have been no reports of civilian injuries.

The fire began just after 3:30 on Dec. 2 and was extinguished at around 4:25 p.m., Flynn said.

The cause of the fire still under investigation.
